Hundreds of astronomy enthusiasts, both professional and amateur, gathered on the longest sandy beach in the world on Cox's Bazaar to watch an eclipse of the sun. Astronomers noted that the solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 is an annular eclipse of the sun with a magnitude of 0.9190. International astronomers reported that this is the longest annular solar eclipse of the millennium, and the longest until December 23, 3043.
