Q. What is WeSay.com? Is it a news site or a photo sharing site?

A. WeSay.com is primarily a news site that emphasizes news photography from both mainstream sources such as The Associated Press and from amateur photographers.

We welcome your viewpoint with our features such as Hot Topics, What’s Your Solution, Talk Back and Guest Columns. You can also leave comments about photographs and most other features on the site.
 
Q. How is my member profile page different than other pages on WeSay.com?

A. The member profile page is your page, where you can post your photographs and write a brief bio about yourself. Visitors will find you on our Member Profile tab where they can compliment your photos or leave you a message.

Our editors also review your photos. If the images you post are selected, editors will post these photos prominently in one of our galleries on the WeSay.com homepage.
 
PHOTOS
Q. How do I get my photos displayed on the WeSay.com homepage?

A. Everyone has an opportunity to have their images published. That’s the beauty of WeSay.com. Photographers of every skill level can have their work displayed side-by-side with the work of professional photojournalists. Good images, no matter who snaps them, have a place.
 
Q. How do I submit photos to be published on WeSay.com?

A. It’s easy. Just create a Member Profile and use our submit form. Your photos will be posted on the profile pages and are automatically reviewed by our editors.

Q. What types of photographs should be submitted to WeSay.com?
 
A. Since WeSay.com is primarily a news site and not a photo sharing site such as Flickr.com, we prefer you send photographs that have some news value. In other words, anything that is of interest in regard to news events, the environment (weather), sports, celebrities (including local celebrities) and far-out, which just about covers any cool photograph.
 
Q. Do I give up ownership rights to my photo when I submit an image to WeSay.com?

A. WeSay.com will NOT resell or redistribute your photographs. We only ask for rights to display your images on our site. Photographers always retain complete ownership.
 
Q. How do I get my photo displayed on the homepage?

A. Post your photos on your member profile page. The images you post will be displayed immediately on your profile page, and our editors hand-pick photos for our homepage from all member photos uploaded. The best of the best make it to WeSay.com's homepage.


Q. Can I submit photographs I altered with Photoshop or other editing software?

A. You can make some slight alterations in lighting, contrast, cropping or other standard news photography practices. However, we do not accept photographs that have been  alterated in major ways such as deleting parts of the background, adding or deleting items to the photograph or greatly changing the look of the subjects. In general, minipulation of images is discouraged.
 
Q. Will my photo be changed in any way by WeSay.com editors?

A. Similar to when a news photographer submits a photograph to a newspaper or magazine, the WeSay.com editors may make some minor adjustments to the photograph such as lighting, contrast, slight cropping, etc.
 
Q. Why am I asked to write a caption for my photographs?

A. As a news site, our visitors want to know the who, what, where and when for images displayed. We believe adding this information will enhance the experience of visiting WeSay.com and add value to your image.

Q. Will my captions be edited?

A. Our editors may edit the captions for spelling and grammatical errors if your photo is selected to be displayed on the site's homepage.
 
COMMENTS
Q. Will my comments be edited?

A. WeSay.com has adopted a policy similar to other news sites. We provide a platform for members to post unedited comments without being reviewed. However, we reserve the right to delete comments we or our visitors view as overly offensive. See our Rules of Conduct for more on this topic.
 
Q. What if I see a comment that is offensive?

A. We have a Report Abusive Comments link near the Comments area on our site. If you use this link to submit a comment you feel is offensive, our editors will review it and take any necessary action.
 
GUEST COLUMNS
Q. How do I submit a guest column?

A. Use the Contact Us section of our site if you want to submit a guest column.
 
Q.  Will my column be edited?

A. Because we want readers to have a good experience, our editors will review guest columns and only make changes for spelling and grammatical errors. However, editors will not ceditorialize your columns in any way.
